Constable Community Allotment
The allotment is completely organic and is situated on Constable Street, between Anlaby Road and Hessle Road. Volunteers cannot have there own plot, but in exchange for time they can receive seasonal vegetables. The allotment has year-round growing space in a polytunnel and lots of outdoor space for growing. The project started in October 2015 and since then the team have been putting infrastucture in place. Lausanne and the team aim to run the site according to permaculture principles, and practise no dig gardening. A 2017 City of Culture spin off event titled “City of Permaculture” is planned for September.
